The ringmaster cares not about what he feels, he only cares about what the audience feels, what his family feels. He’s unimportant; a mere side character that pushes the story of the circus forward, only to be forgotten by the audience after each show, after each town, after each year. The circus moves on, unnoticed by anyone.
